Admission

Discovery Montessori Schools accepts students and families who support and agree with our mission, vision and values. We will admit all applicants who have fulfilled our application requirements without discrimination on the basis of gender or race, nationality and ethnic origin. Admissions are based upon admission criteria and priorities, students’ assessment, and application deadlines. The School will reserve the right for final acceptance.

Admission Criteria

  • Applicants aged-appropriate for the year.
  • Space availabilities in the year.
  • Assessments to determine if applicants are proficient in English language.
  • Assessments to determine if applicants meet the social and academic standards for their year level.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

1. Application (submission of documents)

Should you wish to proceed with an application, please submit the STUDENT APPLICATION FORM (for the applicable class).

Deadline

Admission is generally opened from 1st September to 1st February, and will go on throughout the year if there is an availability of places. In the event the school is full, you will then be asked to submit your application for our wait list.

2. Assessment or Interview

Your child will be invited for an assessment or interview and have the opportunity to interact with teachers.

3. Acceptance

Admission decisions are based on many factors with consideration given to age and a comfortable fit within a Montessori environment as dictated by the balance of the existing multi-age class. Once a student has been assessed as qualified and provided there is space available, an applicant will be offered placement according to Admission Priority as described in the Admissions Policy. Once the place is accepted, a deposit of two months tuition fees (first month and last month tuition), registration fee  must be submitted to school prior to the commencement date.

*Please note we can only hold a place for an applicant for 1 week, depending on the circumstances and at the sole discretion of the school. In order to secure a place for a future commencement date, you may be required to hold the place by paying a deposit of two months tuition fees prior to entry.

*New students who are not accepted at this time are placed in a wait-pool until such time as space becomes available.

4. Orientation

Once your child’s place is confirmed and all relevant documents, fees and forms have been completed and submitted, the school will provide you with an Orientation Package which contains all of the relevant information pertaining to your child’s first day and first week of school. You can then purchase uniforms and school bags. There will be a Meet the Teachers session at the start of the school week.

5. Wait List

Once it has been determined you will be on our Wait List, please complete and submit the required forms and return with the non-refundable registration fee.

Around February of each year the school will ask our existing families to inform us if they are returning the following year (we also ask that younger siblings are registered at this time if you have not already done so). Following that, we will then be able to determine our space availability for our wait listed children.  In late February or early March, and depending on spaces available, the school office may contact those families on the wait list to determine if they are interested in registering their child/children for upcoming academic year.
